A timely interview with one of Nashville’s top education executives Dr. Susan West, Chief of Staff and Vice President to the Office of one the top university’s in the country, Belmont University. Dr. West is the first African America female in a top executive position at Belmont University.  During the 1980's Belmont Mansion, located on the campus, was known to occupy slaves. The University has come a long way and is now diverse and continually working to increase a quality education for any student no matter what ethnicity they come from. Dr. West shares her views on being an African American female in power, discusses today’s racial injustice and offers advice about how we can be the solution and not the problem when dealing with the difficult and confusing times we now face.

 Belmont University is known for being one of the fastest-growing Christian Universities in the nation with nearly 8500 students hailing from every state and 36 countries. Dr. Susan H. West currently serves as Chief of Staff and Vice President in the Office of the President at Belmont University. During her 31 years at Belmont, she has worked in Admissions, Special Academic Programs, and the University College. An experienced Vice President with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry.
